The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever NeedReviewsVery informative astrological book with all the info needed if studying astrology or simply for checking out your own sign and personality traits. Just what I wanted! The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever NeedThis book realy is the only book that you might ever need. It is an excellent book for persons interested in astrology, biginning or advanced. I recommend it to anyone interested in knowing their full astrological birth chart. This book is really great. I'm a beginner and it has everything explained from the first step to the more detailed instructions. If you choose not to do the more detailed steps you can still get enough information to do a basic chart. It was a real eye-opener for me and I realized why my personality didn't fit the 'cookie-cutter' birth signs. If you're looking for a more in-depth astrology book, I recommend this one. Not only does this book explain every detail about your horoscope, but it also contains information on Sun signs, Moon signs, Ascending signs, and much more. I don't think I'll ever feel the need to pick up another astrology book. The big plus is the Interactive CD-ROM for casting birth charts. The book is beautifully written with enlightening details to communicate the significance of each birth chart. This enables a better understanding of your sign and plant placements at time of birth, which makes astrology more interesting and fun for you, family members and friends. Average Rating:![]() |

The Only Tarot Book Youll Ever Need: Gain insight and truth to help explain the past, present, and future.ReviewsIt is a nice enough book that is solid enough for basic tarot study and enough to get a moderate understanding of the cards. Nothing earth shattering but it is enough to get by and spark interest in the tarot if you want to pursue the study of tarot further. I'd recommend it for an opening book and a primer for further study. One of my pet peeves about many so-called "Tarot authors" pushing the use of Tarot for divinatory purposes is their tendency to distort and falsify the history of these cards. Skye Alexander's book is no exception. This book is a classic example of Tarot pseudo-history. The true history of Tarot is known. Contrary to Alexander's claims, the Tarot is not ancient and it was not originally conceived as a divination tool. The Gypsies played no role in the history of Tarot cards. There is also no proven historical connections between Tarot cards and Kabbalah. The traditional images of the Tarot were obviously inspired by Catholicism and the Catholic Church did not wage any campaign against Tarot cards. In fact, the Church often exempted these cards from gaming bans. Tarot cards first appeared in northern Italy during the 15th century and they were used for a trick taking card game similar to Spades and Bridge. The Tarot card game introduced the concept of trumps to card playing. Variants of the Tarot card game are still played today mostly in continental Europe. I also see signs on the internet of non-Europeans now starting to pick up the pastime of Tarot game playing. Alexander's book is most certainly NOT the only Tarot book one needs to own as it gives no information on how the classic Tarot card games are played. The cards would not be used in connection with divination or the occult until the 18th century when occult writers such as Antoine Court de Gebelin falsely connected the cards to ancient Egypt. "Explore. Engage your curiosity. Use your imagination. Keep an open mind and an open heart. The Tarot isn't just for answering everyday questions or telling fortunes; it is a beacon that shines light into the darkest recesses of your inner self and illuminates the vast realms that lie beyond the limits of the conscious mind." - From The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need Written by New Age author Skye Alexander, The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need presents Tarot fundamentals in an engaging, immensely readable format. From suit explanations to numerology, color symbolism to court cards, this 184-page soft cover book published by Adams Media (2008) serves as an excellent introduction to Tarot. The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need contains material adopted and abridged from The Everything® Tarot Book (2nd Edition 2006), also written by the author, providing the core tenets from that book delivered with tighter writing and a more accessible layout. Here are some of the topics admirably covered by Ms. Alexander: * Brief Tarot history * Explanation of the Major and Minor Arcanas * Thorough treatment of Tarot and universal symbolism * Tracking reading progress with a journal * Upright and reversed card meanings * Grayscale reproductions of every Rider-Waite® card * Numerous "Tricks of Tarot" sidebars, providing additional practical and esoteric insights * Seven important spreads, including the Celtic Cross, Horoscope and Feng Shui Spreads * Using Tarot for personal growth, meditation and contemplation * Accessing intuition * Traveling between the conscious and the unconscious with the cards * Finding the right Tarot deck and creating your own Even for experienced Tarot enthusiasts, The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need offers interesting tidbits about the cards. For example: * "The Emperor is related to Zeus, the father-god of the Greek pantheon. The Romans called him Jupiter; the Norse called him Thor. All these deities were known for throwing thunderbolts, or lightning. In some decks The Emperor carries lightning instead of the ankh." * "A spiritual teacher whose task is to connect the world of humans with that of the gods, to forge a link between the material and spiritual worlds, The Hierophant is a pontifex, an ancient word that meant maker of bridges, and that is used to designate a priest." * "The Wheel of Fortune is linked to the three Fates. One spins the thread of life, the second weaves it, and the third cuts it. Thus, The Wheel of Fortune is a reminder of the mysterious cycle of life, death, and rebirth and of the invisible forces that measure them out to each of us." * "The world temperance is derived from the Latin temperare, which means to moderate, blend, or mix together harmoniously. Interestingly, this card was earlier named Time, which is a key to its underlying message." Concise, uncomplicated and affordable (it retails for under $10!), The Only Tarot Book You'll Ever Need provides a solid foundation for those wanting to dip their toes in the deep waters of Tarot but aren't quite sure where to start, as well as offering seasoned Tarotists a few fresh perspectives to consider and apply. -- Janet Boyer, author of The Back in Time Tarot Book: Picture the Past, Experience the Cards, Understand the Present This was one of the first books I ordered to re learn the Tarot. This book is small ,fits nicely in your hand and packs a big punch! Don't be fooled by it's size!! It has it all!! So basic but yet so very very complete!
